Red Bull Soapbox Derby - Atlanta

On June 9, Trevor and I went to Atlanta for the Red Bull Soapbox Derby. We got their early so we could walk around the pits, which opened a couple hours before the actual race.

The Flintstones

Team Penguin had some fantastic dancing penguins at their pit.

Sweetwater Brewery's vehicle was quite popular...for obvious reasons.

A new take on the Ramblin' Wreck of Georgia Tech

I loved this cute little car and the nerds who went along with it.

The Goonies car was one of my favorites, for sure.

The pink high heels were another favorite.

The Atlanta roller girls were pretty awesome. The children they had at their site held adorable signs they'd drawn, urging us to "Do it for the narwhals" or "Do it for the kittens." By do it, they meant vote their vehicle for the fan favorite award.

The Monopoly car was really well done, too.

This car was done by a beer magazine's team.

My favorite grocery store, Publix, even had a miniature of their trucks entered in the race.

The Joker was even there, with the Batmobile he stole.

Monkeys and a space shuttle? What's not to love?

The view down the track - snapped quickly as we crossed it to get some food from the food trucks parked inside Piedmont Park.
