Birthday card for Brittany

Supplies: May 2011 Studio Calico Kit scraps, Sew Easy & zigzag head, Stepping Stone alphabet stamps from Studio Calico, Color Box black ink, American Crafts Zing embossing powder in clear, chipboard star (either Heidi Swapp or Jenny Bowlin - I have similar ones from both & can't remember which I used for this project), flower by Making Memories, and date stamp from March 2012 Studio Calico kit, created by Dear Lizzie exclusively for SC

I made this card in March for our friend Brittany's 28th birthday. Since she is exactly 6 months older than I am, I started to feel old when I started thinking about her birthday. So, I decided I needed to focus on fun, bright colors. Since I knew I'd be seeing her in person, I decided I could go as bulky as I wanted for this card.

Also, I need to note that I think I was inspired by someone else when I came to create this card, but I cannot remember where I saw the original idea. I think it might be an issue of Cards magazine? Where ever I found it, MANY THANKS to the original creator of this design!

Project Life: Week 5

Week 5 - my favorite layout so far! Valentine's Day was coming, and you could definitely tell in our house, what with the cardmaking, cupcake eating, and pink sweater wearing that was going on! The pastels and bright colors of the February Studio Calico kit were perfect this week's photos.

{Supplies: Studio Calico February 2012 Daydream Believer Kit, Studio Calico kraft butterfly, American Crafts letter stickers, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type, Smash decorative tape, Elle's Studio journaling spot, Prima Coltfoot Stamen Chalk Ink, American Crafts stamp (Monday)}

Next week, I'll have week 6 to share. It's going to be an abbreviated version of my week 6 layout because it's full of pictures of other people's kiddos -- and I know those people wouldn't want their babies splashed all over my blog. I certainly wouldn't want them posting photos of my future kids on their blogs, at least. So, I'm skipping the insert of my friend's baby's birthday party next week.

Aja's Birthday

Supplies: Black polka dot tape - Smash by K & Co.; all other tapes - Dear Lizzie by American Crafts; pink pearl - Basic Grey; Stamp - Dear Lizzie for Studio Calico; Thickers - American Crafts; Card - Studio G

Desperate to play with some scrapbook supplies, I made a card for a colleague at school when I found out her birthday was the following day. My March Studio Calico kit had arrived that night, so I put the new date stamp to use, stamping her birthday on the card. This was another very quick card - the toughest part was wrapping the tape around the opening in the card.

Project Life Week 4 Layout

Much belated, I present my week four Project Life layout. I really love this project, but I can't believe how far behind I've fallen. I actually did this layout back in January, but I guess I never took a photo for that Thursday? Since the paper peeking through is pretty in both slots that would have had Thursday's content, I think I'm going to leave it like this. I can always slip in a quotation or something neat later on if I decide I don't like it like this. I think the papers that peek through match well enough that it doesn't look odd.

I feel like this week is when I finally hit my stride. I took a bit more time with these pages, and everything seems to blend together a bit better -- maybe because I dug into a kit that still had a lot of scraps left? I really like the bright colors on this page. All my photos were either neutral or brightly colored, so they work well together.

{Supplies: Studio Calico February 2011 Candy Shoppe Kit, American Crafts Thickers, American Crafts letter stickers, Basic Gray number sticker (4), Cosmo Cricket (cream and black) and October Afternoon (khaki) tiny type stickers, Pink Paislee paper (pink grid), Smash Pad Blank (open mouth journaling spot), Elle's Studio journaling spot (I cropped it - it's actually much longer and bit wider) and some bit of Studio Calico's February 2012 Kit peeking through from the next week}

Next week, I'll have week five for you. That is probably my favorite layout so far. I used the Studio Calico February 2012 Daydream Believer kit - I love that kit so much!

Happy 19th Birthday, Erin!

{Supplies: Mat Stack by DCWV, bakers twine by Martha Stewart, Buttons by KI Memories, Tiny Type by Cosmo Cricket, and Star Sticker by Studio Calico}

My cousin, Erin, turns 19 today. She is my eldest cousin, and in a lot of ways, she seems like the third child in my family instead of the oldest in her own. In fact, the three of us sort of look like sisters:

Me, Nicole & Erin

Erin is certainly one of my favorite people - and one of Trevor's as well. She is smart, witty, and gorgeous. There's never a dull moment when Erin is around, and we all just love her to pieces. We're hoping she can visit us in Atlanta in July, and I'm sure it's going to be an awesome adventure if she does come.

Happy birthday, Erin!

Katelyn is 1!

Supplies: Various Thickers by American Crafts, Mister Huey's Lemonade mist, KI Memories border stickers, Bazzill Basics Cardstock, Spellbinders die

This is a super quick card I made for our friends' Kevin and Elizabeth's baby girl, Katelyn, on her first birthday at the end of February. I'd had the strips laid out on the card for six months, but I hadn't figured out where to go from there. It really didn't take long to put it together once I pulled it out for the first birthday. I just placed the biggest Thickers first, filled in the smaller ones, and used the gems to finish it off.

Project Life Week 22 Photos: May 27-June 2, 2012

Though I might not be doing so well with actually creating the Project Life layouts (I'm on like week 9 or so), I'm still plugging away with the photos. There are some definite holes in the photos, but I'm just going to work around those. I won't be trying to do anything like play catch up and stage photos. There's way too much pretty scrapbook paper in the world for me to do that - I can always fill the open spaces with paper and embellishment.

Tuesday, May 29: A trip to urgent care sent me home with three prescriptions.

Wednesday, May 30: I hosted my first Thirty-One Gifts party as a consultant!

Thursday, May 31: I had a great harvest from my garden - six banana peppers and a tomato. Trevor had already eaten two peppers on a mini pizza when I took this photo.

Saturday, June 2: A Maine Lobster Roll for lunch in Bethel, Maine before Samantha & Craig's wedding

Samantha & Craig's cakes, both made by Sami's mom, Liz

Sami & me at the end of the night - isn't her dress AMAZING?
