CFH Bloghop

{Supplies used: American Crafts card blank, five papers from the Basic Grey 6x6 Boxer paper pad, Colorbox ink (blue), Stampabilities ink (brown) and Autumn Leaves ink (black). Sentiment stamp by Studio G. Heart nesting dies by Quickutz. White cardstock by Wausau Paper.}

Welcome, CFH Blog Hoppers!
Remember to start at the beginning.

I based my card on a design from a Page Maps set of card designs. I was having a lot of trouble getting started -- I knew I wanted to use the Boxer line because it is so patriotically colored, yet very masculine in design -- perfect for our servicemen (and women). I just got the cute heart dies this week when Hobby Lobby had their 50% off Quickutz sale, so I thought I'd do a sweet card for someone to send to a loved one back home. I actually created the card first, then found a sentiment stamp for it. I ended up cutting up a Studio G stamp because the "Thinking of You" was surrounded by a speech balloon with an arrow pointing out the bottom -- not what I wanted for this card! It was very easy, and the pieces still fit together perfectly, as though it had never been cut apart.

I created this card for the group Cards for Heroes, a group which provides handmade cards to servicemen and women who are separated from their families. Through this program, no matter where they are currently stationed, they can have wonderful cards ready to send home to their families. It is such a wonderful cause! It means so much when a family can get a note from their loved ones.

When I was about six years old, my dad's cousin Bob went to Kuwait. My grandmother was the principal of my school I went to, and there were just 13 students there. Each of us wrote letters to Bob, and my grandma sent them to him. We each received a postcard from him -- it was so cool to hear back from him!

The next blog on the hop belongs to Blythe. She is a Stampin' Up demonstrator with a wonderful assortment of projects on her blog. You should definitely take a look around her blog and plan to spend some time there!

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, everyone!
